Pump House, Enfield
Conversion and Restoration of the Pump House
This project located in Enfield involves the conversion of the locally listed Victorian Pump House into nine new luxury apartments with one unit contained within the workshop building. The design includes the refurbishment and restoration of the existing building and new landscaping proposals for the large grounds. The scheme involved the sensitive subdivision of the interior volumes to maintain the character of the architecture, particularly with regards to the fenestration.
The pumping station building is typical of Victorian industrial architecture and is of robust construction comprising a dark engineering brick plinth with muti-stock brick above articulated through pilasters, entablatures, stone sills and copings and grand windows with rubbed brick arches above them. A series of pitched slate roofs complete the building composition.
