Priory Park, Edgware
The proposed development involves the restoration and refurbishment of the existing Grade II listed 1870’s Abbey to create new residential apartments. The scheme included the removal of the 1930’s extension to the south of the Abbey and it’s replacement with a carefully designed residential terrace of 5 new homes which sit within the footprint of the former building, within landscaped grounds.
The scheme establishes a long term viable use for the historic abbey building through its refurbishment and sensitive conversion to residential use.
One of the key features of the scheme is the careful restoration of the feature south gable wall, which was formerly concealed. Removal of the 1950s extension revealed a significant amount of the original fabric to this wall. The wall was carefully restored with materials and features to match the existing building. Internally, this gable wall bounds a generous living area, and a double-height bedroom space above.

Five new houses complete the scheme, located within the grounds to the south of the listed building.
The houses are designed to complement the listed abbey building, with brick detailing in English bond, stone detailing to the windows and projecting brick chimneys. Each house benefits from generous room sizes, large amounts of natural light and views towards the surrounding landscaped gardens.
Internally within the Listed Building the units are unique and distinctive making use of the existing historical features of the building. Generous living spaces are formed with simple interventions to upgrade the building with contemporary apartments.
